Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This page covers klar.im, the website. It does not cover the Klar app: the app is not a browser, sets no cookies, and never contacts a server about your mail. We set no advertising cookies and run no cross-site tracking, so the list below is short enough to read in full.

Cookies this site sets

Three, all functional. None of them is used to profile you or to follow you to another site.

  • PARAGLIDE_LOCALE (set by us). Remembers whether you chose English, French or German, so a return visit opens in the language you picked. Written only once you switch language.
  • crisp-client/… (set by Crisp IM SARL, France). The support chat keeps a conversation attached to you across page loads, so a reply reaches the person who asked. The widget loads only after you scroll or open the chat, and until then no Crisp cookie exists. See Crisp’s privacy policy.
  • deck (set by us). Holds the password for one unlisted, password-protected page so you are not asked again for a day. It never appears if you have not opened that page.

Measurement, which uses no cookies

Two tools tell us how the site is doing. Neither one identifies you, and neither uses a cookie, but one of them does store a key in your browser, which we would rather spell out than leave you to discover.

  • Page views and three kinds of anonymous homepage experiment events, counted by GoatCounter running on our own server in Paris. The events say which homepage version was shown, whether the inbox-tax calculator was used and whether a homepage App Store badge was clicked. Cookieless by design: it stores nothing in your browser and builds no visitor identifier.
  • Session replay, by OpenReplay, which shows us where people get stuck in the on-page demo. It keeps a session key in your browser’s sessionStorage and localStorage rather than in a cookie, records clicks and scrolling, and is configured to ignore everything you type and to hide email addresses. It honours Do Not Track: turn that on in your browser and it never starts.

Why there is no banner

A consent banner exists to ask about storing things in your browser and following you between sites. We store nothing beyond the functional items above, and follow nobody. So there is nothing for us to ask you about, and a banner would be theatre.

How to refuse any of it

You do not have to take our word for the list. Open your browser’s developer tools, look at Storage, and check it against this page.

  • Never open the support chat, and no Crisp cookie is ever set.
  • Turn on Do Not Track in your browser, and session replay never starts.
  • Block or clear cookies for klar.im in your browser settings. The site keeps working; it will just forget your language.
